Poweur in one line

One open ID for sign-in, end-to-end encrypted messaging and file sharing, with keys that stay on your devices.

Descriptions

One line (under 120 characters)

Poweur is an open ID for signing in, messaging and sharing files, with keys you control.

Short

Poweur gives you one open ID, a readable name such as alice.poweur.net or a name on your own domain, backed by keys that stay on your devices. It signs you in to apps, carries end-to-end encrypted messages and holds files you choose to share. It is open source, self-hostable and pre-1.0.

Medium

Most apps make you create another account, rebuild your contacts and move your data into their system. Poweur ID is an attempt to give those three things (an identity, an inbox and a home for your data) a common, open foundation. An ID is a readable name backed by cryptographic keys that never leave your devices. People on different relays can message each other, much as people on different email providers can; files are encrypted on your device and shared with chosen IDs; and apps can accept the ID as a login without passwords. You can use a free hosted name, a name on your own domain, or run your own relay. It is open source, live in alpha, and has no external security review yet.

Logos and icons

Each file is shown on the background it is meant for. The white files look blank on a white page; that is expected. The name and logo are covered by the trademark policy: fine for writing about Poweur, not for implying endorsement.
